A Cooperative Miniatures Game of Daring Hunts

Cazadores is a cooperative miniatures game about tracking and hunting monsters, beasts, and other things that go bump in the night. It can be played solo or with up to 4 players with 1-4 miniatures per side.

Game Pitch

Each player creates a Cazador, a brave and formidable hunter hellbent on defeating fearsome mythical beasts, twisted beings, uncanny horrors, and other terrifying Adversaries. Cazadores are joined by a rare few Companions willing to follow them into the wilderness, through the desert, across mountains, and into the lairs of monstrous things and the darkness between the planes.

Cazadores is narrative-focused game that can be played solo or cooperatively. It only requires 1-4 miniatures per side and a 24"x24" space, making it a perfect kitchen table game and introduction to those new to the miniatures hobby.

Features

  • A simple d10 dice pool system that resolves actions in a single roll (e.g., to hit, damage, and modifiers)
  •  A Time-based initiative system where actions cost "Ticks" contributing to a more dynamic flow for combat.
  • Streamlined stats and decision trees that make Foes' actions easy to determine and execute.
  • Unique attacks and abilities for Adversaries using a standard deck of playing cards to make them special and intriguing enemies.

Design Goals

The game was inspired by my desire to get more use out of miniatures from big box board games, usually from Kickstarter, like Blood Rage, Kingdom Death Monster, etc., that just don't see the table that often. Frankly, it also helps I can work on it while not being able to meet in person with others.

The current version has five Adversaries to take on but more are coming and the guts of the system are there. With a little imagination you can run with this to set up your own Hunts.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I have so far. If you do take it for a spin, make sure to let me know at matachingames@pm.me and follow its development at matachin.games.

Got to play a game yesterday. Had a great time adding Warding Talc and getting smashed by the Son of the Mountain...

The Timing Circle from Cursed City makes for a good game clock.

We opted to keep going after we completed the objective to see if we could take down the Giant...Cost us half the party, but we were triumphant!

I'm having a really good time with this system and can't wait for more...Is there any social media platforms that are talking about this game? The initiative system is so fun...Discord,Facebook? Anyone?

Thanks!

I just wanted to say that I really like this game! I wanted to play a modern fantasy after reading lots of Dresden Files, so I started with walking dead models as my heroes but I switched to fantasy and next hunt I might use some old west dudes. The monster has stayed the same(Accursed Construct) and I like how it all works and creates a really interesting story.

Thank you for trying out the game and your comments! I’m glad you’ve had a good time so far. Especially since it seems like there’s some good replayability for the Adversaries.

I had not considered using modern models with the game but it sounds like a good time! I think an Old West vibe would work really well too. I’m a big fan of the Dark Tower series and some old gunslingers fighting strange creatures in a decaying landscape feels like a good fit for the system as well.

I love the clock initiative system in this game. It's such a fascinating approach to initiative and risk-reward.

Thank you for your feedback! I hope you’ve had a good time reading or playing the game.

I cannot claim to have come up with the original seed for the initiative system so I feel like I can say it is very cool :). The World of Warcraft miniatures game was the inspiration for the concept as I use it here and it was a neat, if short-lived, game.

Super interesting! I've never happened on a Co-Op table top miniatures game before!
Hope to see this develop and grow
